Your teen might be saying things like "I don't fit in anywhere" or "What's the point?" They're struggling with anxiety, low motivation, or withdrawing from everythingβ€”and sometimes cycling through all three. You're noticing them isolating in their room, avoiding social situations, skipping activities they used to care about, or complaining of constant exhaustion, headaches, or stomach issues. The connection you once had feels distant, and you're not sure how to reach them anymore.

No matter what you’ve tried, nothing seems to be getting through.

HOW I CAN HELP

Teen therapy can help your teen work through difficult emotions and build the resilience they need to thrive.

Teenagers face unique challenges: intense academic pressure, complicated social dynamics, questions about identity and belonging, and the very real stress of figuring out who they are and where they fit. In therapy, I create a safe, non-judgmental space where your teen can explore what's really going on beneath the surface. We'll talk about their struggles with anxiety, depression, anger, relationships, or whatever they're facing, and work together to develop coping skills and emotional awareness. Teens often feel like no one truly understands them. Therapy gives them a place where they're genuinely heard and supported.

The impact of therapy extends far beyond our sessions. As your teen develops stronger coping skills and emotional resilience, you'll see them handle challenges more effectively, communicate more openly, and engage more confidently with their life. They'll learn to recognize negative thought patterns, manage overwhelming emotions, and make choices that align with their values. These aren't temporary fixes. They're foundational skills that will serve them through college, relationships, careers, and all the transitions ahead.

IN THERAPY YOUR TEEN MAY LEARN TO:

  • Actually understand what they're feeling (instead of just feeling "bad" all the time)

  • Develop go-to strategies for when anxiety or stress hits

  • Stop comparing themselves to everyone else (seriously, it's exhausting)

  • Talk through the hard stuff in a space that's just for them

  • Build self-esteem that's not based on grades, likes, or other people's opinions

  • Process trauma, grief, or big life changes at their own pace

  • Get better at communicating what they actually need

  • Challenge negative thoughts that keep them stuck

I want you to know:

Change is possible.

Let's work together to give your teenager the tools they need to thrive and feel understood.

  • Yes! Research shows that virtual therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions. Many teens actually feel more comfortable opening up from their own space, which can lead to deeper, more honest conversations. I've seen wonderful progress with my teen clients in virtual sessions. They're able to work through challenges, build coping skills, and experience real growth, all from the comfort and safety of home.

  • Your teen will need a private space with a closed door where they can speak freely without being overheard. If sound carries easily in your home, a sound machine outside the door can help create additional privacy. Beyond that, all they need is a reliable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone. Confidentiality is a top priority, and having this private space helps your teen feel safe to share openly during our sessions.

  • I use a variety of approaches tailored to each teen's interests and needs. For teens who enjoy creative expression, I incorporate art therapy techniques. For those who connect better through play, I use interactive platforms like Buddy Board Games and Board Game Arena to make sessions fun and engaging. After working with teens for several years in virtual settings, I've developed strategies to keep them actively involved and connected throughout our time together. Therapy doesn't have to feel like "therapy"β€”it can be dynamic, interactive, and actually enjoyable.
